John Gary Jimmy Stewart |
Chicago | Chicago Sun Times |
"John Gary's stabs at
humor were imitations of Walter Brennan, Gregory Peck, Humphery Bogart - all effective, but not half
as funny as those of his Guitarist-Conductor, Jim Stewart. Stewart laid aside his Wes Montgomery -like electric guitar style for a
classical guitar for his back-up to Gary's Castilian Flamenco Ballad - the show's genuine "high point". Stewart's elaborate stylings on
the Flamenco even outshone Gary's theatrics. The word passed through the audience; "That guy can really make that thing talk."
